Lake Mountain Ski Hire are challenging you to find one of our furry friends in the snow! Its simple all you need to do is find a wombat in the snow and take a picture.Well it sounds simple enough... don't you think? Once you have the picture post it on our Face Book or email us before the 8th of July 2011 to receive a ski hire package voucher for one. That's it!

We have provided some general 'wombat' information for you below to make sure you know what you are looking for :)

Crazy Facts:

Wombats scientific name is Vomabatus Ursinus... What the?
Sometimes they sleep on their backs with their legs sticking up in the air!
They have hollow like rodent teeth that NEVER stop growing.
Can run up to 40kmph. WOW
Their closest relative is the Koala.

Size On average 1 metre in length and 27kilograms in weight, although can reach 1.3 metres in length and 36 kilograms.

What It Eats Grasses, tree bark, roots and fungi.

Gestation / Life Span Gestation period of 20-22 days. Young stays in pouch for 6 months. Life span of up to 5 years in the wild and 27 years in captivity.

The Common Wombat is the largest burrowing herbivorous (plant eating) mammal. Their burrows can extend 20 or 30 metres below the ground. Burrows are usually made by digging into a hillside or creek bank. They use their strong front legs with short flattened claws to dig with and their back legs to push the loose earth and rocks away.

Wombats grow to an average of 1 metre in length and 27kilograms in weight, although they can reach up to 1.3 metres and 36 kilograms. They are solidly built marsupials with a squat, round, bear like body, small ears and eyes, and a large naked nose. Their thick, coarse fur varies in colour from sandy brown to grey and black, and is sometimes flecked with fawn.
